Sleepy Garden

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 5:53 pm

When this family suggested a session at the “Tucson Botanical Gardens”, I thought “Gee, why haven’t I ever thought of that?” It is gorgeous! Also, there wasn’t a spot in the place that didn’t lend itself to an amazing backdrop for a photo. I will definitely remember this place for future shoots.

Anyway, the beauty of the place must have been all too much for this sweet baby boy. He slept through half the session. Although I was a bit worried about having enough photographs of him awake with his Mama and Papa, I felt a rush of excitement being able to photograph a 9 mo. old fast asleep. That doesn’t happen often!

Luckily, the fascinating Christmas tree kept him awake long enough to snap that perfect Christmas card photo. Happy Holidays!

Christmas Baby

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 5:41 pm

Oliver was in GREAT spirits for our shoot due to an extraordinarily long nap. Yay Oli! Usually babies tend to have horrible naps on picture day and by the end, they are definitely in meltdown mode, but not Oliver.

Once he woke, Mom and Dad were incredibly efficient at clothing changes and moving Oliver here and there. Nice teamwork guys! We got some adorable shots for the Christmas card and because Oliver was born ON Christmas day, it was a MUST to get a picture of him in a Christmas gift box. Afterall, he was a surprise gift last Christmas, born just over three weeks early.

When we arrived at the park for the family pictures, we were greeted by the ice cold wind yet very optimal cloudiness for photography. Again, efficiency was key here in getting everyone back in the nice warm car as quickly as possible.

Thank you Mom and Dad for a wonderful session, food, and helping me look for the “lost” keys.

Brown Family

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 9:47 pm

Whew! These little ones sure kept me on my toes even though I am already quite familiar with this little guy’s energy. (He’s in my class) 🙂 But, when you add lil’ sister into the mix, it makes for quite a pair!

They are such BEAUTIFUL children and have incredible imaginations. In fact, during our session, brother wasn’t going to give us a smile unless he could be convinced that pandas, in fact, do smile too. He was “eating” bamboo and doing all things a panda may do.

Even though Mom and Dad most likely walked away from the session exhausted and skeptical about the outcome of their portraits, I think the photos were worth the expended energy! I think you’ll agree!

Kite Flying and Tree Climbing!

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 4:00 am

I had the pleasure of working with a tremendously loving father this past weekend and his joyful children. It was NOT a windy day, but the efforts from Dad made all the difference in getting this kite in the air, if only for a brief moment. I was just so appreciative to have a client open to trying something unique.

We had a beautiful session with tea parties, tree climbing, kite flying, and A LOT of tickling. What a wonderful experience. I hope I have the pleasure of photographing this threesome again. Thanks for all the hard work Edward, and thank you Norah for sending him my way. I appreciate all of you who refer me to friends and family.

Enjoy!

Senioritis

Filed under: Children, Senior — generationsphotography @ 3:51 am

As I go about my day, each and every day, my mind is constantly in photographer mode. Which means, I’m always looking around me, and thinking; “hmmm, that would make a great location, or prop, or pose, etc…” Senior portraits are somewhat seasonal and so as the year goes by, you can imagine how many ideas are collected in my photography brain eager to be used. Alas, I got to use some of them AND I was able to use them for my very own baby sister’s portraits.

Luckily, after trespassing more than once and in more than one location, we didn’t get hauled off to jail AND got some brilliant shots of a beautiful young lady.

Lesson of the day: sometimes a great photograph is worth the potential trespassing fine.

M and Family

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 2:56 am

It was the perfect weather and PERFECT location for a photo shoot. I had been wanting to do a session here for so long and finally found an interested client. In fact, she was eyeballing this location herself, as she is also a fabulous photographer. We met at the birth center and soon after, I learned about Westlight Photography. It seemed like a perfect idea to photo swap!

Their amazingly cute boy was eager to explore, but with a lot of help from Mom and Dad with distractions and “the magic hat” (as I’d like to refer to it as), we nailed some beautiful candid shots of them enjoying one another.

I would love to have a repeat session in the near future, cause that session rocked!

Auntie Brenda

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 10:07 pm

When someone loves your kids so much that they want to have a photo-shoot with them, you know they MUST be awfully special, or at least… memorable. Right? 🙂

Auntie Brenda was present just minutes after both of my babies were born and has been a significant part of our lives ever since. And, you know they are significant to your children when you hear your two-year-old say, “Brenda, you’re home!” as she approaches the door.

I hope these photographs provide you with a constant reminder of how much they love you and always will.

The “Big” Kids

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 10:01 pm

After a long session with baby sister, big brother and sister were definitely ready for some of the spotlight. It was EXTREMELY easy to get AMAZING pictures of these charming kiddos. I could have photographed them all day. Seriously!

She’s a BIG deal!

Filed under: Newborn — generationsphotography @ 4:19 am

My latest newborn session turned out to be a two-session session. 🙂 I had my work cut out for me with sweet, lovely Storey. She was happiest when Mom was holding or feeding her and didn’t appreciate the paparazzi-like feel of a photo shoot. However, with much determination and patience, I think we were able to capture her Greatness just fine.

I have to thank Mom and Dad for being so helpful and patient as I tried to pull ALL my tricks out of my “Mary Poppins” bag. Dad’s sense of humor was so appreciated. I’ll never forget his comment…

“Storey, “Vanity Fair” is here and you aren’t cooperating.”

Storey, you are memorable! I can’t wait to photograph her again!

Pictures of the adorable big brother and sister coming soon! 🙂

Walker-Leland Family

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 3:18 am

It seemed to be the HOTTEST day yet in Tucson, AND we had many little ones to keep from melting, but we did it nonetheless. Fortunately, the kids didn’t even seem to notice the scalding hot sun. They smiled happily and had a blast running around the park before, after, and between photos. Even Dad, who had initial camera shyness, relaxed and had a good time. Thank you Mom and Dad for your patience and allowing me to hang with all these sweet kiddos. I can’t wait for Mother/Son pictures in the next couple months!
