Daddy and Daughter

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 6:01 pm

Photographing families is most enjoyable by all when the pressure of looking at the camera and smiling is taken away from the session. That is why I love that my clients trust me!

After a shoot, I sometimes sense the skepticism from parents as it definitely seems that NOTHING got accomplished. I admit, sometimes I wonder if we got anything good too.

However, when I start viewing the pictures at home, I am ALWAYS pleasantly surprised to find several outstanding expressions, which give me an emotional high. This round of images doesn’t disappoint. This sweet girl is picture perfect!

Check it out!

My Best,

Jenna

This sweet boy was such a calm baby with such precious little features.

I especially can’t get over how adorable spit bubbles are on an infant. What a great accessory!

I love photographing babies, seriously!

My Lovelies!

Filed under: Children — generationsphotography @ 2:40 am

Okay, so after shooting several types of families, groups, children, etc., I still find it MOST difficult to photograph my own. Even when I “schedule” their shoots, it seems like everything that could go wrong, does.

All craziness aside, I LOVE how these images turned out. I don’t know how I ended up with such royally cute kids, but I am most definitely aware of their beauty. I hope these photographs bring them joy along with their future families.

The scarf L has on in these images was purchased at Little Bird Nesting Company. I think it was a great compliment to his beautiful eye color. The location was PERFECT! These smiles come straight from the heart!

A’s shoot was at our home and very, very quick. Still, I think they are priceless! I can’t believe she’s 9 months.

My Best,

Jenna

Molly and Family

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 3:23 am

Not only was I under the weather, but the temperature outside was a mere 35 degrees that morning. For an Arizonan, that is COLD! This group, however, didn’t seem fazed by the cold since they were from D.C. and London.

Even though it was difficult to get smiles out of these jet-lagged sweeties, it was a fun session. In the end, roaring like dinosaurs and some reverse-psychology (“whatever you do, don’t smile”), revealed grins galore. We ended up with some beautiful moments of vulnerability.

Thank you adults for making the session humorous and speedy.

My best,

Jenna

The goal for this shoot: A “real” smile. I can’t say that I know how to make an 18-year-old boy smile, or laugh for that matter. However, to my surprise, I  mastered a technique that worked well and I’ll have to remember for future sessions with teenage boys. My technique you wonder? Not much to it really, I just had him tell me stories about his friends, life, family, etc. Ultimately, smiles materialized and we walked away with some wonderfully, smiley shots. It’s too bad the train wouldn’t cooperate, we didn’t wind up with any shots with the train passing. 😦

It was fun working with you Sam, and great to see you outside the birth center, where I typically only see you for belly measurements. 🙂

One Big Happy Family

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 3:52 am

I must first state that this location was SUPERB! The only downside to this magical spot was having to wait several minutes between shots for the golfers. I’m sure they weren’t thrilled by our presence, but hey, if only they could see the images…

My favorite part was at the end of our session, when the grandchildren were having a blast with one another. They were so happy to be together. Then, at the very end, one of them announced free hot cocoa inside, and it was officially “a wrap”.

Thank you Kim for the chance to work with your beautiful family.

My best,

Jenna

Christmas in the Desert

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 4:04 am

Older kids are fun to photograph because they ham it up and make it REALLY easy to capture personality and soul. Max was no exception. He made me laugh with his “blue steal” lips. Good ol’ Zoolander! He was remarkably funny at the end when we gave him free reign to do “whatever” in his shorts and Santa hat. What a character!

My best,

~J

Family of 6

Filed under: Family — generationsphotography @ 12:41 am

One thing I love about photographing families is that, after a session with each family, I really feel as if I’ve made new friends and learned a little more about life, love, and family.

This family of 6 was, oh sooo patient, as they waited for their son to arrive for the session. He came flying into the parking lot and changed clothes in record time. It was funny to me, but I’m sure very frustrating for Mom and Dad.

What a great day at a very fun location!

Nursing Graduate

She was all smiles during our shoot because she finished her last final a day prior to our shoot. Caroline is a beautiful woman and made my job easier than ever. What a difference from my normal, “catch them if you can” approach.

My best,

Jenna

Nearly one!

Filed under: Children, Family — generationsphotography @ 3:33 am

This shoot was great for two reasons; I got to catch up with old friends and meet their beautiful daughter AND I had a great time exploring La Encantada as a photo-shoot location. It was decked out for Christmas and incredibly festive, great for their holiday pictures!

Typically, passersby are just a distraction during shoots, but we continually thanked the onlookers as Miss Penelope was eager to smile at them and allow me to snap away.

Great to see you Mom and Dad. We can’t let it go that long between visits again.

My Best,

Jenna
